Rotary Club of Thomaston's Citizen of the Year Award honors Betsy and Bill Edwards for thier Distinguished Community Service on Thursday, April 10, 2025 Beginning at 6:00 pm Social and 6:30 pm Buffet Dinner at the Grand Oak Villa, Oakville, CT.

The Rotary Club of Thomaston, a 501-C-3 organization, actively supports the community’s needs with its’ Fuel Fund, Crisis Fund, Community Grants, as well as the Scholarship Fund which this event’s proceeds will directly benefit.  Each year the Rotary Club of Thomaston awards over $15,000 in scholarship to students of Thomaston. This year’s scholarships will be awarded in honor of Betsy & Bill Edwards.

DIstrict 7890 - 2025 District Conference:

The Conference will take place the weekend of May 2-5, 2025. The theme will of course be the "Magic of Rotary"

9:00 AM – Welcome / Intro from Harvest Pack / Training Video

Packaging Begins

11:00 AM –Packaging Ends / Group pictures at Food Pyramid

11:15 AM – Clean-up begins / Supplies / Finished Food consolidated (10 volunteers)

12:30 PM – Finished – Harvest Pack Event Leader departs / Return Supplies palletized
(Truck arrives on Monday to pick up HP supply pallets)

In celebration of Rotary International’s Youth Service Month, members of the Interact Club will present to the Rotary Club of Thomaston during the May 22nd lunch meeting at Black Rock Tavern. This is an opportunity for students to share their service projects and accomplishments from the school year, especially with Rotary members who helped charter the Interact Club.

Annual Installation Dinner honoring incoming Presidents & Assistant Governors. This year's event will be held at the Gremio-Lusitano Club in Ludlow, MA.

Venerable Shim Bo is the Abbot and Spiritual Director of White Lotus Haven Zen of Connecticut, Inc., an active Buddhist community in Collinsville, CT. As a Zen Buddhist monk, he offers instruction in Zen meditation and chanting, provides spiritual guidance, leads services, and gives dharma talks. Venerable Shim Bo also serves as Buddhist Chaplain at Sacred Heart University and Zen Buddhist Leader and Spiritual Director at Trinity College. He is a Dharma Mentor for the Buddhist Association of the United States (BAUS) Prisoner Correspondence Course, extending Buddhist teachings to incarcerated individuals nationwide.
